Probation Works, Md. DWI Study Finds


A drunk driver who received probation before judgment was the least likely to repeat the crime, the study said. In Maryland, a judge may stay a guilty verdict and place a person on probation with conditions. Under Maryland law, a drunk driver who receives probation before judgment is almost always required to enroll in a state-approved rehabilitation program. If the person successfully completes probation, the guilty finding is wiped out.
