July 21 was Bruce LaPorte’s lucky day. He didn’t think so at the time. Driving home in the wee hours from a Chippewa Street bar, LaPorte fell asleep at a green light in Hamburg. Awakening, he drove on — through the now-red light. He was pulled over by Hamburg cops Scott Kashino and Todd Ehret. LaPorte had alcohol on his breath and couldn’t get through the alphabet.
