ESPANOLA A former State Police sergeant who resigned after a drunken-driving crash in his unmarked patrol car in Alcalde was sentenced Tuesday to six months of probation.

Ronald Garcia, charged with aggravated DWI and careless driving, pleaded guilty to nonaggravated first-time DWI in a plea deal, even though he was convicted of DWI once before in 1984, according to the state Motor Vehicle Division.
