The risk of dying in an alcohol-related crash was lower in Minnesota last year than in all but three other states, according to a federal study released Wednesday that was greeted with applause and safe-driving advocates’ warnings against complacency. Minnesota’s rate of 0.42 alcohol-related driving deaths for every 100 million miles driven trailed only Utah, Vermont and New York, according to the study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
