Robin Kaplan, 43, was driving east about 9:15 p.m. on a rolling, rural section of Logmill Road with [Rachel Kaplan] in the front passenger seat. At the crest of a hill, she tried to turn her Toyota RAV4 SUV left onto Parnell Court, the entrance to the Haymarket subdivision where the Kaplans had recently moved. As Kaplan turned, a Volkswagen Jetta heading west on Logmill Road struck the Toyota’s right side. Trevor McNeal, who lives down the street from the Kaplans on Parnell Court, said it is difficult to see oncoming traffic at the hilltop intersection of Logmill Road and Parnell Court, which, he said, had been the site of at least three other traffic accidents since March. He said he and other neighbors were planning to write a letter to the county complaining about the entrance to the subdivision, saying it should have been located along a flat stretch of Logmill Road nearby.
