According to police records, [Manute Bol] did not yield right of way to fire trucks, their sirens screaming and lights flashing, at Rte. 450 and 85th Avenue in New Carrollton. The fire trucks were forced to swerve to the right to avoid Bol’s vehicle, and Bol turned south onto the Beltway, police said. Police stopped Bol at Rte. 50 and the Beltway. Bol, 25, “started swinging his fists . . . and yelling that he was not going,” striking two assisting officers in the upper body, according to a police report filed by Cpl. Ernest Walker. Walker, who had stopped Bol’s vehicle, was later joined by two other officers. The report said Bol resisted being handcuffed and was “struggling on the ground and continuing to resist arrest . . . and act in a wild state.” He said the other officers searched his car, then approached Walker and him. Bol said he turned to Walker and asked him to keep his car keys personally. “The other guys said, `You can’t tell us what to do.’ ” Bol said. Source : pqasb.pqarchiver.com |
